Season 5 Summaries

Episode 1: Arrival

29 September 2005

From underneath the ice appears the Fortress of Solitude. Inside, Clark's Kryptonian education begins. However, when Chloe - who was transported along with Clark to the ice cap - turns up in the Fortress of Solitude, Jor-El gives Clark a choice; save Chloe or continue his education, giving him the potential to save countless numbers of lives. Back in Smallville, the last two remaining Kryptonians emerge from the space ship that crash landed in the meteorite shower. They cut a murderous rampage across the town as they look for Kal-El, hoping he will join them in turning Earth in to a Kryptonian utopia.

Episode 2: Mortal

6 October 2005

Jor-El strips Clark (Tom Welling) of his powers, making him human. Delighted to finally be "normal," Clark pursues a relationship with Lana (Kristin Kreuk) sans secrets. Episode 3: Hidden

13 October 2005

Former tech-guy for the Torch, Gabriel Duncan, takes control of one of fifteen nuclear missile silos near Smallville. With the co-ordinates for Smallville locked in he starts the launch sequence with the intention of forever purging the town of the population of meteor freaks. Without his powers, Clark is put in an especially vulnerable position as he and Chloe frantically try to track Gabriel down before it's too late. Meanwhile, Lionel Luthor, still in a catatonic state, has scrawled symbols from the Kryptonian spaceship all over the walls of his padded cell.

20 October 2005

A summer beach party at Crater Lake takes a dramatic turn when Lois (Erica Durance) hits her head while jumping into the lake. Before Clark (Tom Welling) can save her, a mysterious swimmer, Aquaman, a.k.a. AC (Alan Ritchson), comes to her rescue, out-swimming Clark and leaving him baffled. Professor Fine (James Marsters) tells Clark that Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) is behind a covert operation manufacturing weapons. AC attempts to break into the Luthercorp Marine Center in an attempt to destroy one of Lex's torpedoes and is captured by Lex.
